Everything about Chess.ID, materials, causes, and verification. Still stuck? See /about/ for the bigger picture.
Chess.ID is the permanent identifier your build gets the moment you start designing — a prefix built from your collection, material, and piece style, plus a fixed serial number (for example, CB-USWNST-380853). It never changes once generated, and it ships with your board on its verification card.
Each of the 195 country collections uses that country's real flag colors as the light and dark squares, and — for flags with a genuine third color — a matching pinstripe accent on the border. Every collection also carries a cause line.
Yes — Build From Scratch gives you full control over every color with a color wheel, RGB sliders, or exact hex codes. No country, no preset, no rules.
Walnut (base), Maple (+$20), Rosewood (+$40), Bamboo (–$20, eco), Marble (+$80), and Acrylic (+$30) — all real scanned surfaces, so the grain or veining reads correctly under the lighting in the live 3D preview, not a flat color fill.
Three piece styles — Staunton (tournament standard), Modern (clean minimal), and Luxury (all 32 pieces individually hand-carved, +$120) — across four sizes, from Travel 10″ up to Tournament 20″.
A felt-lined case with a molded recess for every piece, a maker's plate carrying your collection's flag, and a verification card — see /verify/ for what that card does.
Yes — upload artwork (PNG, JPEG, SVG, or WebP, up to 10MB) for the board face, and add custom engraving text. Both preview live before you finalize anything.
Yes — Save encodes your entire build into a single link. Open it any time, on any device, and it reloads exactly as you left it.
The configurator opens on your own country automatically, based on your general location — it's just a better starting point, and it never overrides a design you've saved or a link someone shared with you.
Every collection carries a cause line reflecting the program ChessBoarders is building support around for that country. As checkout and fulfillment come fully online, we'll publish exactly how that support works.
Not yet — it's in active development. Every board is being designed to ship with a verification card and QR code; today, that scan shows your board's details, its origin date, and its cause. When an NFT program launches, that same card and QR will be how you claim it — nothing extra to buy or track down. See /verify/ for the full plan.
The configurator is live and fully working today — design, pricing, and your Chess.ID are all real. Checkout is being finalized; use Build Your Board to create and save your design now, and you'll be first to know when ordering opens.
Start with a country, or start from nothing. Either way, it's yours.
